Quantum QSB Shelf Bins, Choosing the Right Series/Size
Quantum makes shelf bins in three heights, and the right one depends on what you're storing and how much vertical space you have between shelves. All three share the same design, injection-molded polypropylene, hopper front, rear hanglock, molded label holder, and 7 divider slots for optional dividers. The difference is the height and therefore, the capacity they can hold.
4" Economy Shelf Bins (QSB1 Series)
The 4" series is the most popular for high-density small parts storage. The lower profile means you can fit more shelf levels into the same vertical space. Available in 13 size combinations across 12", 18", and 24" depths, with widths from 2.75" (QSB100) up to 11.125" (QSB109, QSB110, QSB116). The 4" high series is also the only line that comes in all 7 colors including black, green, and ivory, the 6" and 8" lines are limited to blue, red, yellow, and clear.

6" Store-More Shelf Bins (QSB2 Series)
The 6" series gives you 50% more height than the 4" bins in the same footprint. Same widths, same shelf compatibility, just taller meaning you can store bulkier items without them sticking up above the bin edge. The QSB2xx series runs 12 models across the same 12"/18"/24" depth range. If you're storing items like spray cans, bottled chemicals, packaged medical supplies, or maintenance parts that don't fit cleanly in a 4" bin, this is the height to look at.

8" Store-Max Shelf Bins (QSB8 Series)
The 8" high shelf bins offer the most storage capacity, double the volume of the 4" bins. These are built for operations where you're storing larger items or higher quantities per bin and don't need as many shelf levels. The trade-off is fewer levels per unit (you'll fit 6–7 levels of 8" bins on a standard shelving unit vs. 10+ with 4" bins), but each bin holds significantly more. The QSB8xx series also runs 12 models across all three depth options.
Common use: Bulk parts storage, tool cribs, warehouse receiving, high-volume inventory positions
Shelf Bins vs. Stack and Hang Bins - What's the Difference?
Both are Quantum plastic storage bins, but they're designed for different setups. Stack and hang bins (QUS series) stack on the floor, hang on louvered panels, or sit on shelves. Shelf bins (QSB series) are purpose-built to sit on shelving and give you fast, open-front access to contents without pulling the bin out. If your bins are going on shelving and you want maximum pick speed, shelf bins are the right choice. If you need flexibility to stack bins on the floor or mount them on a wall panel, go with the QUS stack-and-hang series.
Dividers and Accessories
Every QSB shelf bin has 7 built-in divider slots that accept Quantum's DSB dividers. Dividers let you split a single bin into multiple compartments, especially useful when you have several small part numbers that need to stay separated on the same shelf. Dividers are sold separately and are sized to match each bin series (4", 6", and 8" height). Check the individual product page for your bin model to see compatible divider part numbers.
