A shelving unit with bins is a complete storage system in one SKU: the shelving, the bins and the hardware to hold them. The choices that matter are shelf capacity, open or closed construction, flat or sloped shelves, the bin mix, and whether the unit sits on the floor, a bench or a wall:
Shelf Capacity & Construction
Wire shelving units with bins are rated 600-800 lb per shelf and assemble without tools, while steel shelving and closed shelf bin organizers are rated 400 lb per shelf. Match the shelf rating to the heaviest loaded bin row, not the average.
Open vs. Closed Shelving
Open wire and steel shelving gives airflow and visibility from every side. Closed shelf bin organizers add side and back panels and enclosed euro drawers, which keeps dust off parts in cleanrooms, medical storage and finishing areas.
Flat vs. Sloped Shelves
Flat shelves hold the most bins per unit. Gravity and slanted units tilt each shelf so parts slide to the front of the bin as they are picked, giving first-in, first-out rotation and faster picks in order-fulfillment and assembly work.
Bin Count & Size Mix
Each unit lists its bin count and bin model. Fewer, deeper bins suit bulky stock; more 4-inch bins per shelf suit small hardware. Every bin takes optional dividers and labels, and you can add bins later from the shelf-bin collection.

Floor units run 36 to 48 inches wide and 12 to 24 inches deep. Bench racks and gravity bench racks sit on a workbench, and louvered panels move the bins to a wall, cabinet door or truck side when floor space is the constraint.
