Heavy duty storage containers with attached lids are a practical choice when the same goods move between shelves, workstations and delivery locations. Choose the size by checking three things: whether your items fit inside, whether the container fits your storage space, and how many containers you need in circulation.

How do you choose an attached-lid container that fits?
Start with the items you will put inside. Measure the longest, widest and tallest item, or the group of items you plan to pack together. Allow room for packaging, cushioning and your hands.
Inside dimensions tell you what fits in the container. Outside dimensions tell you where the container fits. A model's rounded size description is useful for browsing, but use its detailed measurements before ordering.
For example, the QDC2115-12 measures 21¾″ × 15″ × 12¾″ outside, while its published inside dimensions are 18″ × 12¼″ × 12¾″. An item that fits the outside footprint may still be too large for the usable interior.

All measurements below are length × width × height, in inches. Each model is sold in a carton of 10 containers with attached lids. Model links open the product's specifications and current price.
| Model / current price | Outside dimensions | Published inside dimensions | Containers per carton |
|---|---|---|---|
| QDC2012-7 | 19⅝ × 11 9/16 × 7½ | 16¼ × 8⅝ × 7½ | 10 |
| QDC2115-12 | 21¾ × 15 × 12¾ | 18 × 12¼ × 12¾ | 10 |
| QDC2420-12 | 23⅞ × 19⅜ × 12½ | 20⅝ × 16⅝ × 12½ | 10 |
| QDC2820-15 | 28⅛ × 20⅝ × 15⅝ | 25⅛ × 18 × 15⅝ | 10 |

What should you check before placing a warehouse order?
- Shelf and cart fit. Compare the container's outside dimensions with the usable shelf or cart space, including any posts, lips or obstructions. Allow room to grip the handles and remove the container.
- Lid clearance. Decide whether employees will open the lid on the shelf or pull the container out first. A tote that fits under the next shelf may not have enough clearance to open there.
- The complete load. Include packaging and the combined weight of the contents. Confirm the model's suitability for your intended load and stacking arrangement before putting it into service.
- Empty-container storage. Plan where containers will go between uses. Attached-lid containers stack when closed and nest when empty with their lids open.
- Order quantity. The four models above come in cartons of 10. For example, 30 containers means three cartons. Count containers at receiving, in active use and awaiting return so the next batch does not have to wait for an empty tote.
For a larger order, request a volume quote with your preferred model, total container quantity and delivery requirements. If you are still choosing, include your item dimensions and available shelf space.
What makes heavy-duty attached lid containers useful for industrial work?
Heavy-duty attached lid containers, also called ALCs or round-trip totes, combine reusable storage with lids that stay with the container. Their key features support repeated handling in warehouses and other industrial settings:
- Robust construction. The QDC containers use high-density polyethylene and reinforced corners for repeated storage and transport. Match the model to the load and handling conditions of your operation.
- Integrated lid design. Permanently attached hinged lids remove the need to track separate covers and help protect contents from dust and debris during storage and transport.
- Stackable and nestable. Closed containers can be stacked for storage. Empty containers nest together with their lids open, reducing the space needed between uses and on return trips.
- Security options. The collection describes a padlock eye for fastening or locking the lid. Check the selected model and compatible security fastener when your operation requires a lock or tamper-evident seal.
- Cleaning and reuse. The containers can be cleaned and reused across multiple trips. At the end of their service life, check whether your local recycler accepts the container material.
Which industries use attached-lid containers?
Heavy-duty ALCs are used across manufacturing and assembly, warehousing and distribution, automotive and aerospace, electronics and technology, pharmaceuticals and healthcare, food and beverage, and retail and e-commerce.
For an industrial buyer, the more useful question is what the container must do: move a kit to an assembly station, carry inventory between locations, protect stored components, or support repeated picking and replenishment. Identify that job first, then choose the dimensions and quantity. Specialized requirements such as static protection, food contact or controlled handling need to be checked for the selected product.
What if you need a different kind of container?
If you need removable lids or separate compartments for small parts, compare other heavy-duty containers with lids. That collection is a better starting point for comparing different container designs.

Questions before you order
Do I need to buy lids separately?
No. The four QDC models in the comparison have permanently attached hinged lids. That differs from containers that use separately purchased covers.
Can I order fewer than 10 containers?
The models shown are listed in cartons of 10. Plan your order in carton quantities; one carton contains 10 containers.
How much weight can I put in a container?
A size measurement is not a load rating. Contact Industrial 4 Less with the model, contents and planned stacking arrangement so the appropriate specifications can be checked before you order.
